5 Tips to Help You Hit Your Personal CrossFit Goals

Here are five tips to help you hit your personal CrossFit goals:

1. Keep Your Goals Visible.

When it comes to goals, we sometimes have the best intentions. But the follow-through winds up falling apart. To help keep your goals at the front of your mind, write them down and keep them someplace visible. Write your goals on a sticky note and put it on your bathroom mirror. Or post them on your refrigerator. Find a place that you’re likely to see your goals multiple times throughout the day.

2. Share Your Goals With Someone.

Sharing your goals with a training buddy, close friend, or a family member creates an outside source of accountability. Once you tell someone else about your goals, they’ll probably ask you how you’re doing. You might be more motivated to keep making progress so that you can provide them with a positive update.

3. Make a Plan.

Once you set a goal, the next thing you want to do is figure out the steps you’ll take to achieve it. Without a plan, it’s like you’ve placed your goal on an island and you have no way of reaching that island. Take some time to lay out a process and include your workout frequency, intensity level, skill work, and all the other pieces that will play a role in your success.

4. Be Consistent.

Once you have a plan, do your best to follow that plan consistently. Remember that consistency doesn’t mean you must train hard every day. Instead, it means doing your best to stick to the plan you’ve created. Make sure you allow for some flexibility in your training, as well.

5. Focus on the Process

Goals help steer us in a specific direction. And as you work toward your goal, stay focused on the process instead of the outcome. Thinking too far ahead can make you lose sight of what you can today, right now. As long as you put in the daily practice, the results will come. Keep your attention on the process.
